The Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is a coalition of individuals and groups working to support the Avalanche Center and its scientific and educational efforts to promote the safety of mountain travelers. Whether you use ski areas or the back-country as your playground, the work of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is critical to your safety in the mountains. Similarly, your membership in the Friends of the Northwest Weather and Avalanche Center is critical to the continued success of the Center.

Snowpack Information Exchange. Visit our Snowpack Info Exchange to see a history of the season's snowpack. It's based on field observations made by backcountry travelers. Add your observations to the log.
Regional Resources. Click on the map, to get regional resources such as: Dept. of Transportation information, NWAC forecasts, relevant ski area links, etc.
Education. We can schedule a free Avalanche Awareness & Avoidance Lecture for you or your group. These lectures are structured to give the winter traveler a better understanding of the avalanches hazards in the Pacific Northwest. Given by knowledgeable avalanche instructors, these lectures take about two hours. Field trips can also be arranged. Please contact us via e-mail to schedule. We generally can schedule a lecture for you anywhere in Washington or Oregon.
